*VOLUNTEERING
"Provide access to education to the children of the most disadvantaged families of the Kichangachui community, in the Ujiji neighborhood (Kigoma, Tanzania) ''
It is a joint project of KARIBIA and the local NGO LEARN N'PLAY for the construction of a completely free school for 96 children from 3 to 6 years old from families without resources from the humble Kichangachui neighborhood in Kigoma (Tanzania), consisting of 3 classrooms, staff room, toilets, kitchen, dining room, warehouse, playground,..., where to teach classes, provide all the necessary educational and recreational equipment, and where to serve a daily lunch that covers basic nutritional needs. ;
In July 2021, we began the construction of the first of the 3 classrooms, and once finished, after the avalanche of requests to enroll the children of the neighborhood (in a week more than 100 families requested to enroll their children), in September 2021 , and thanks to the awareness of our followers, we obtained the funds for the construction of the second classroom that was finished in October 2021.
The third classroom was financed thanks to a Crowdfunding campaign through #migranodearena.
And in 2022, thanks to the collaboration of the NETRI Foundation, we managed to complete the entire educational centre.
With this school, the aim is to incorporate the early childhood training process to all these children who do not have access to early educational stimulation, since their families cannot afford the expenses required by other schools at that age (in Kigoma only a little more 20% of children between the ages of 3 and 6 have access to some type of education).
This project is finished and handed over to our local counterpart.
From now on, our work will continue in the form of monitoring the evolution and impact of the project. We will make periodic visits to see that everything is working according to the planned objectives. We will monitor the academic results of children who have gone through school and are already in primary school, and we will extract data that will help us validate the relevance of projects of this type.
